New Fitness Regime Can Help Me Win Again
Posted: 23rd January 2012
When I reflect on my 2011 season I suppose I would say it was a bit of an up and down year.
I started well in Australia then followed that up with the best week of my season in Turkey, finishing second.
Another few good weeks followed, before I started struggling with my swing.
Unfortunately this led me to missing the cuts at the Evian Masters and The Open, the two biggest events of the year.
Luckily I found my swing for the last few events and had some great results to finish the season on a high. I came tied 13th in China, tied 12th in India and then tied ninth in Dubai. It left me as the second highest English player in the Order of Merit.
It was particularly important for me to finish the year strongly and it has giving me a great feeling for the 2012 season.
After Dubai I took a bit of time off to celebrate Christmas and New Year with family and friends.
Since then I have been working really hard on my fitness and train three times a week with a personal trainer.
I have been working with her since September and it has shown in my results. The fitness work I have been doing has definitely helped my swing.
My first tournament this year will be in China at the beginning of March. I will be preparing by spending 10 days in Dubai before flying on to Hainan.
In the meantime I am painting our house, catching up with my friends and enjoying being at home for the longest period of time since I turned pro.
I have learned to play poker and really enjoy playing with friends or going to the casino.
I am really looking forward to this season, I will be physically a lot fitter, my swing will be more consistent and hopefully I can win again!
